Moscow - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said that he wants Barack Obama to win the election next year, because he was worried that efforts to improve relations may be lost under the new government.

"I can tell you directly, I want Barack Obama was reelected as United States President," Medvedev said.

"If someone else becomes U.S. president, then he may have a different program," he said.

"We understand that no representative of the somewhat conservative wings that try to achieve their political objectives, among others, the expense and inflame passions in conjunction with Russia."

"But what's the point to criticize them? This is only way to achieve political objectives."

Since installed in the Kremlin with his mentor Vladimir Putin, known for his view of "hawkish", Medvedev has made improving relations with United States, the most important part of foreign policy.
