Liza Minnelli gets the Officier dans l'Ordre de la Legion d'Honneur – the Legion of Honor – as awarded to her by Frederic Mitterrand at Ministere de la Culture on July 11 2011 in Paris, France.
Minnelli reportedly called receiving the medal as an honor, a “dream come true" and said that she was honored to be a part of France, a part of Paris, the country and city of her dreams.
Minnelli appeared to be visibly deeply moved and told the audience at the ceremony, “thank you for watching me, thank you for caring about me.”
Liza Minnelli is the daughter of American actress and singer Judy Garland and director Vincente Minnelli. Minnelli also won an Oscar for her role as the American Sally Bowles in the hit 1972 film Cabaret, set in 1931 Berlin.
She's also the recipient of an Emmy, a BAFTA, a Grammy Legend Award, a Golden Globe and several Tony Awards. [Source: allvoices.com]
