Mike DeStefano, the material removed from his life as a former heroin junkie to the finalists of last season on Last Comic Standing, has died, his spokesman confirmed.

Born and raised in the Bronx, DeStefano won a cult following for his frank autobiographical and biting humor. DeStefano has allegedly battled heroin addiction since the age of 15 years, but had been clean for 11 years. He was also HIV-positive, from his early years battling drug abuse, and as a drug advisor to his wife HIV diagnosis and, ultimately, death.

The comedian just a series of sold-out shows, called "Drugs, disease and death: A comedy,"and should begin a one-man comedy show in New York on Wednesday.

This is sad ... I watched that particular season and he was pretty funny. My sympathies go out to his family.
